A little Poetry: Aiden

In honor of National Poetry Month I thought I might give it a go! I haven’t really written poetry since probably college. Which by the way feels like a lifetime ago! so above is my Aiden taken shortly after he was born by emergency c-section. He was nicked by the scalpel hence the bandage. I simply call this short and sweet poem Aiden.

With bated breath I wait
A little pull, a little tug
Pressure coming from everywhere
A last stretch and a big gasp
You were born into this world
With tears and a heart overjoyed
You were mine.

this is how I remember the scariest moment in my life. The moment where I didn’t know if either of us were gonna be ok and make it to the other side.
