I have always said someone should film the behind the counter life of a coffeehouse. You know like Cops meets The Real World both circa 1990. When they both had some cred.
I have been behind a counter in some way, shape or form for over 12 years. You become a strange dysfunctional family that says the most random things at any given moment.
Today’s random moment is brought to you thanks to my partner Marie. She is my newly promoted shift supervisor. She is a thirty something Mexican woman. She has a rough exterior due to her past life but once you crack that shell you realize she is kind, caring, funny, and loves animals- especially dogs.
We get lots of customers with dogs in their cars in drive thru. We love most of them but we do get some that should not be in the car if they do not like strangers! We have had some near misses with those pooches. Anyway we get a lot of the same breed of big dogs, same breed of little dogs.
I was walking towards drive thru when all of a sudden we hear “Oh my God she has a weiner!” of course I stop dead in my tracks and look first at who is on cafe that heard that and look completely offended. Luckily everyone in cafe is in the corner and didn’t hear. Then I go around the corner and ask what the heck was that all about?!
Needless to say Marie got really excited because a customer had a weiner dog in their car and in her excitement she accidentally forgot the dog part. Needless to say we made fun of Maria, cooed at the dog a bit, then made fun of Marie some more.
Stay tuned for more coffeehouse musings- Lord knows I could write a book!
